Power to the Players: The Path to Decentralized Gaming Governance

Progressive Decentralization

A DAO is a decentralized form of governance, which allows community members to shape the way a protocol makes decisions. This is the Hike Gaming Nation's ultimate goal.

This process will need to be done with the utmost care as decentralizing DAO governance will need to be balanced with speed of execution. The right tools & systems need to be available (and built) to truly unlock the potential of governance.

We will follow a path of 'progressive decentralization' where the process of decentralization will occur gradually over time as $HIKE is distributed among our community members.

Our Hike team will take the responsibility of developing the Hike Protocol in it's early phase of development. This is incredibly important as it will provide a cohesive vision, fast execution & also prevent hostile actors from disrupting our ecosystem during the early phases of development.

Governance Mechanics

$HIKE would allow stakers to propose and vote on governance proposals in the Hike DAO to determine future features, upgrades and/or parameters of the Hike Gaming Nation, or provide feedback, with voting weight calculated in proportion to the tokens staked. It will over time take decisions on:

• Feature development priorities

• Protocol upgrades and improvements

• Economic parameter adjustments

• Treasury fund allocation

• Integration standards for new games

Implementation Phases

We're laying out broadly the phases towards becoming a full functioning DAO.

The transition to full DAO governance will occur in measured stages:

1. Foundation Phase: Our Hike team maintains primary development responsibility to establish a cohesive vision and ensure rapid, coordinated execution.

2. Limited Governance Phase: Community voting begins on specific, bounded decisions while core development remains centrally coordinated.

3. Expanded Authority Phase: DAO control extends to broader protocol decisions with increased treasury management rights.

4. Mature Governance Phase: Full community governance across all protocol aspects with Hike Studios transitioning to participating members rather than central authority.

This measured approach prevents potential disruption from hostile actors while gradually building our community's capacity for effective self-governance—creating a truly player-owned gaming ecosystem.
